The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park
(PPSRNP) is found in the Midwest coast of Palawan.
The PPSRNP is a mountain-to-the sea ecosystem
which features a limestone karst mountain
landscape with an 8.2 km navigable
underground river.

This underground river goes through the cave which
exits directly into the South China Sea. There
are enormous fomations of stalagmites and
stalactites,separate majestic caverns
with bats, swallows and other cave
animal species.

Palawan Eco-Tourism - Ugong Rock Interview

Ugong Rock is a protruded limestone rock in middle of a
rice field situated in Tagabenit, Puerto Princesa. The
place was used by the natives as hide-out against the
Japanese during the World War II.

To be able to climb up the top, you have to squeeze your
body into small crevices.Ropes & walkways were installed
for unexperienced climbers.

As in any hiking or climbing expedition, one should be wearing
a pair of comfortable rubber shoes or sandals & outdoor casual
outfits. Flashlights , helmets & gloves are provided. It takes
more or less an hour to pass through the narrow passageway to
reach the top. One can have nice and breathtaking views of the
surrounding vicinity at the summit. You can either take a walk
down or take the more exciting zipline from the top.

The cave is managed by the Tagabenit Community Tourist Association.

Tubbataha Reef' Natural Park is a beautiful marine sanctuary
for diversed marine life in central Sulu Sea.

"This 97,000 hectares captivating atolls is home to
approximately 600 species of fish, 360 species of
corals (approximately half of all coral species in
the world),14 species of sharks including the fero-
cious tiger shark, 12 species of dolphins & whales,
a nesting population of endangered hawksbill and
green sea turtles, and over 100 species of birds,
including migratory birds".

This place was proclaimed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Coron is located on Busuanga island in the province
of Palawan. It is surrounded by large granite rock
formation. It is a tourism town, being included in
the top 10 best scuba diving sites.

It is also visited for several Japanese shipwrecks -
Irako Wreck, Okikawa Maru Wreck, Akitsushima Wreck, Kogyo
Maru Wreck, Olympia Maru Wreck, Kyokuzan Maru Wreck, East
Tangat Gunboat Wreck, Nanshin Maru Wreck, Lusong Gunboat
Wreck and Skeleton Wreck, among others.

Amanpulo is a secluded place situated in Pamalican
Island. Various water sports await you which include
sailing, windsurfing, fishing, snorkeling and scuba
diving. You can either take a leisurely nature walks
or a more exciting activities like bird watching and
turtle watching or stargazing.

El Nido, was named after the edible nests (nido in Spanish)
of swiftlets, 'collocalia fuciphaga', found in the crevices
of its limestone cliffs. These nests, "nido" in Spanish, is
the main igredient for the gourmet nido soup.

El Nido is composed of 49 islands & islets, of various but
unique rock formations.It is famous for its marble & lime-
stone cliffs. Due to its geological & biologicalecosystem,
the area was made a 'managed resource protected area' in
1998. The area has at least 30 dive sites, 50 white sand
beaches, forest & marine habitats.

The biological ecosystem includes marine mammals dugong,
dolphins), marine turtles, manta rays and the occasional
whale shark. It was made a turtle sanctuary in 1984 due to
the presence of marine turtles (endemic & endangered).There
are at least 813 species of fish & 100 species of corals
